VIS176 – Simon Baker – NY Summer / Way Out Of My Head

19Apr09

Simon Baker returns to his hometown label with two excellent pieces of his trademark deep, electronic, percussive house music. 2020 put out Simon’s first ever release, the massive Liptrick release, and since then he has gone onto to be an in demand dj and producer on the worldwide stage, he regularly tours the world and this weekend played his debut set at the Panorama bar. He set up his Infant record label alongside 2020 and has also released singles with Playhouse, Viva and Get Physical.
On remix duties comes the up and coming French producer Julien Chaptal. Julien is based in Amsterdam and is part of the ongoing techno renaissance taking place there alongside 2001, Kabale und Liebe, Lauhaus and Boris Werner.

DJ Reactions
Meat (Frankfurt) – Great tracks, can’t wait to play them
Ivan Smagghe – The boy is back, and he’s getting bigger
Chris Duckenfield – Head and shoulders better than the bucket full of ‘ethnic sample CD’ chod that’s hit my fan this week. Druggy, clubby and proper. Thanks
Lee Burridge – Very good Mr Baker. Very good indeed!
Luke Solomon – killer full support
Konrad Black – Great record
Alex Flitsch (Connaisseur Recordings) – “NY Summer” is one of the best tunes I’ve ever heard from Simon. The remix is ace, too… Geat release!
Josh Wink – Good ep. Like Julien’s rmx and way out of my head original best of this release. Thanks
Ralf Kollmann (Mobilee) – Great record from Simon Baker. Delicious remix from Julien Chaptal.
